The DreamWorks/Universal Pictures collaboration, to be produced by BRIAN GRAZER and RON HOWARD, has been in development at several studios over the past ten years, the Hollywood Reporter said.
HUGH HEFNER's life story will hit the big screen under the direction of BRETT RATNER, according to Daily Variety.

Oscar winner RUSSELL CROWE will make his directorial debut with 'Bra Boys,' a drama based on the counterculture surf community in Australia, according to Daily Variety.
The project reunites Crowe with Oscar-winning 'Cinderella Man' producer BRIAN GRAZER, who will produce the new project. Crowe narrated a documentary on the 'Bra Boys,' three brothers who began the underground surfer movement in the inner-Sydney seaside suburb of Maroubra. It has not been announced whether or not Crowe will also star in the project.
"Shark," starring James Woods as former defense attorney turned prosecutor Sebastian Stark, was given one of the best time periods of any new show of the 2006 fall TV season. It airs on Thursday nights at 10 p.m., following "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," CBS' No. 1-rated drama.
"Shark" follows the personal and professional life of Sebastian Stark, a confident defense attorney who brings his unconventional techniques to the prosecutor's office. After getting a not guilty verdict for a wealthy client who then kills his wife, Stark's faith in the legal system is shaken. As a result, he takes down his shingle as a defense attorney and goes to work as a prosecutor.
