In a telephone conversation the morning after being cut from "American Idol," BROOKE WHITE says her bags have been packed for two weeks. Last week, of course, the 24-year-old from Mesa, Arizona, flubbed the beginning of her song and stopped the orchestra and then started over.

One night after the Final 5 crooned evergreen NEIL DIAMOND tunes, America sang goodbye to BROOKE WHITE, narrowing the contest down to four.

"I just wanna say thank you," Brooke said, tears streaming down her face. "It's gonna be terrible for me right now!" She nonetheless managed to reprise Diamond's "I Am … I Said," while fellow finalists DAVID COOK, JASON CASTRO, DAVID ARCHULETA and SYESHA MERCADO stood behind her in a show of support.

Only ET was on the set of "Grey's Anatomy" as the hit ABC medical drama  was filming the final five episodes of the season, which start airing tonight at 9 p.m. One hush-hush fact ET's MARK STEINES uncovered was that six weeks after Derek (PATRICK DEMPSEY) and Meredith (ELLEN POMPEO) broke up because she discovered he had kissed Nurse Rose (guest star LAUREN STAMILE), they begin making their way back together -- for good!

One night after the Final 6 tackled the show tunes of ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER, the light died down on "Broadway" for CARLY SMITHSON, whom viewers sent packing on Wednesday evening's results show.

"I apologize for giving you a compliment last night -- kiss of death," SIMON COWELL jested with the tattooed singer, adding: "But let me tell you, Carly, you can leave with your head held high."

Broadway was in the air as "American Idol"'s Final 6 took on the tunes of composer ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER Tuesday night. Their challenge was, in SIMON COWELL's estimation, to make themselves "sound memorable yet contemporary."

SYESHA MERCADO kicked things off in alluring fashion, performing "One Rock & Roll Too Many" atop a piano in a sexy red dress. RANDY JACKSON approved, saying, "Not only is this your element … That's your best performance to date." PAULA ABDUL concurred, adding, "This is your happy place, and you're real good at it." Even Simon had to admit, "This was one of your strongest performances so far."

One night after the Final 7 crooned MARIAH CAREY tunes, viewers were all out of "Honey" for KRISTY LEE COOK on Wednesday night's results show.

"Can I go ride my horse now?" the booted blonde asked, dabbing tears from her eyes after being eliminated. Her waterworks might have also had something to do with a certain blunt comment slung at her by SIMON COWELL just moments earlier.

DAVID ARCHULETA drew first position. His MARIAH CAREY song choice was "When You Believe." Judge RANDY JACKSON commented, "I was a little worried about tonight with boys singing girl songs. That was one of the toughest ones. I always say, if you can sing, you can sing anything. You can sing. That was the bomb, baby." Paula pointed out, "It must feel great for Mariah to hear your interpretation of the song. You made her proud." Simon agreed, saying, "I would have bet a million dollars on you choosing that song. I thought it was very good. You set the benchmark. I think the guys are going to have an easier time with the songs than the gals because there isn't the comparison."
