NICOLE RICHIE could soon be strutting her stuff on the Great White Way. According to US Weekly, the new mom has been offered to play Roxie Hart in the Broadway production of Chicago.

Bad news for Chicago: the long-running Broadway revival is losing one of its star players this week due to "an extreme case of strep throat." That's the word on USHER, who's been playing the role of the show's conniving lawyer Billy Flynn since late August.

The R&B singing sensation -- who made his Broadway debut with Chicago -- was originally slated to appear in the hit musical until October 1, but the star proved so popular with audiences that his run as Flynn was extended through the end of this week. Due to his illness, he will not be able to return to the stage to complete his final performances.

JENNIFER ANISTON and VINCE VAUGHN ruled the box office this weekend with their big screen 'Break-Up,' which brought in $38.1 million in its debut. The pair also set a record with the highest summer opening for a romantic comedy ever!

In second was last week's big winner, 'X-men: The Last Stand,' which added $34.4 million to its coffers. 'Over the Hedge' stayed in third with $20.6 million, while 'The Da Vinci Code' fell to fourth with $19.3 million. 'M:i:III' took fifth with $4.7 million.

VINCE VAUGHN and JENNIFER ANISTON are squaring off in their hotly-awaited summer comedy 'The Break-Up,' and on Monday, the on-screen -- and rumored off-screen -- couple attended the movie's Chicago premiere.

Earlier in the day, Vince threw out the ceremonial first pitch before Monday's Cubs game against Cincinnati. The comic cut-up also sang "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the seventh-inning stretch, and sat with Jennifer during the game.

Last year, the stars put on their glamorous best for the 9th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, the only industry accolades devoted solely to actors honoring actors.

The night's big, screen winner was the film adaptation of the musical 'Chicago' and RENÉE ZELLWEGER, CATHERINE ZETA JONES and the rest of the movie's cast were overjoyed when they heard. Renée literally screamed when she won for Outstanding Female Actor. Co-star Catherine danced away a winner as well with the Outstanding Supporting Female Actor accolade.
