"American Idol" fans have to take the good with the bad, especially during the audition shows of the blockbuster FOX reality series, returning tonight at 8 p.m. on FOX with a two-hour look at the Philadelphia tryouts, followed on Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 8 p.m., with auditions from Dallas.
CHRIS DAUGHTRY's elimination from "American Idol" was a shocker, as many expected him to win. Though he was voted off the show well before the finale, he came back to rock the charts all the way to number one!
With his band, DAUGHTRY, the former reality-show contestant's breakout CD has gone on to become the most popular album of the year, according to Billboard.
It will be a "New Year's Rockin' Eve" again this year when CARRIE UNDERWOOD, MILEY CYRUS and the JONAS BROTHERS join DICK CLARK and RYAN SEACREST in Times Square for a musical extravaganza.
"Carrie has proven over the last couple of years that she really is a superstar," Ryan tells ET. "She may be the most successful 'Idol' to come from our show. I think she reaches out and connects with a lot of different age groups and demographics. She really has hit a super stride right now. Miley Cyrus -- you've seen the news. You can't even get those tickets. And the Jonas Brothers, I tell you this, I have had every artist that has made the charts in my studio or on the radio show, and the biggest crowd of teenagers and parents gathered for the Jonas Brothers. I think it is a score to have them all."
After nine weeks on the Billboard music chart, former "American Idol" contestant CHRIS DAUGHTRY has hit the top spot with the debut album with his band, called Daughtry.
The 27-year-old rocker, who developed a loyal fan following during his stint on "Idol," received an offer to become the new frontman for FUEL just hours after being eliminated from the competition on May 10, 2006. At the time, Chris said he wanted to wait until things calmed down a bit to make any big decisions.
