A lot has changed for the sophomore season of the CBS drama "Close to Home." Jennifer Finnigan is now a widow, the cases that are being tried are no longer necessarily suburban and "JAG"'s David James Elliott has joined the cast.

"Close to Home" is about a group of prosecutors based in Indiana who try sensational cases. Elliott plays the new district attorney in town, James Conlon, who replaces last season's D.A., Steve Sharpe (John Carroll Lynch).

ET has learned that former "JAG" star and triathlete DAVID JAMES ELLIOTT fell off his bicycle while riding in Los Angeles last Friday, September 1, and required stitches on his ear and forehead.

The actor's wife picked him up and took him to the emergency room; the stitches are coming out today. Elliott, who competed in an Ironman Triathlon last fall in Hawaii, will return to work on the set of the CBS legal drama, "Close to Home," on Tuesday.

DAVID JAMES ELLIOTT played a lawyer on "JAG." Now he's playing one on "Close To Home," joining the CBS series for its sophomore season. But there are lawyers, and then there are lawyers.

On this series, David plays the new boss -- Assistant District Attorney James Conlon -- handsome, self-assured and ambitious. He is just in from New York City and ready to make his mark, so he infuses the office with his New York work ethic.

DAVID JAMES ELLIOTT trades in his Navy duds from "JAG" for a nice suit and tie, when he guest stars on the season finale of "Medium," airing Monday, May 22 at 10 p.m.

"I want to work with all the ARQUETTES," says David, who is playing PATRICIA ARQUETTE's husband in the episode. "I worked with DAVID, Patricia and ROSANNA, and then I am on to the 'Surreal Life' with ALEXIS," he jokes.

DAVID JAMES ELLIOTT returned to Toronto, the city of his birth, to shoot "The Stranger I Married," a Lifetime Television movie based on the true events that followed Canadian football star TERRY EVANSHEN's near-fatal car crash.

"It has been a helluva trip," David tells ET. "I lost my brother during the filming of this show, so I dedicated my effort on this film to him. It happened two days before we started filming, so it was a difficult trip to Canada this time, and the role is incredibly emotionally draining."

Now that his 10-year run of lawyering in the Navy has ended, "JAG" alum DAVID JAMES ELLIOTT headed to the beach -- but not for well-deserved R&R -- but rather for 140 miles of blood, sweat and maybe even some tears as he took part in the famously grueling Ironman Triathlon on Saturday!

"I find that it works its way into real life and you set these goals and complete them," he says about doing the famous race. "It translates into life really well and other challenges that you take up. It's also a great way to stay in shape!"

After 10 years, DONALD P. BELLISARIO's "JAG" will broadcast its series finale on Friday, April 29, at 9 p.m. on CBS. The burning question for fans of the long-running military drama is: will there be a culmination to the sexual tension that has been steaming up the screen between Navy Cmdr. Harmon Rabb (DAVID JAMES ELLIOTT) and Marine Lt. Col. Sarah MacKenzie (CATHERINE BELL)?

"When CBS said, 'You are cancelled,' I rewrote the script, the scene between Harm and Mac," Bellisario explains. "I am not going to say what happens, but I think all the fans will be satisfied and I will be satisfied because it is an ending that still leaves something hanging in the air. [Viewers] can debate and everybody can have their own view of what happened in the end. I just wish I had a little more time to build up to it."

When we last saw "The O.C."'s Kirsten (KELLY ROWAN), she and Carter (BILLY CAMPBELL) had gotten a bit tipsy at a wine tasting -- so much so that they decided they couldn't drive home and checked into a hotel room. The sexual attraction between the two has been there since Campbell's character appeared on the scene, but will they act on it?

This Thursday is the perfect opportunity, when Sandy (PETER GALLAGHER), Seth (ADAM BRODY) and Ryan (BENJAMIN McKENZIE) travel to South Beach to visit the Nana (guest star LINDA LAVIN). Will a footlose and fancy-free Kirsten cheat on Sandy?

There's an aggressive new lawyer joining the "JAG" staff, who thinks he can get away with doing whatever it takes to win his case. That is, until he meets his match in Lt. Col. Sarah MacKenzie (CATHERINE BELL), who understands just what he is up to, because she wasn't so different herself years ago.

"Lt. Vukovic (CHRIS BEETEM) is from the street," Catherine tells ET on the set of the CBS military drama. "He gets the job done however it needs to be done, whether it is exactly ethical or not. His heart is in the right place, but he goes about it the wrong way. Mac is there for ethics and integrity.

From chestnuts roasting over an open fire to throwing another shrimp on the barbie, ET checked in with a few of your fave celebs to find out what they are up to this holiday season.

TYRA BANKS: I am probably going to get a tree about as high as my knee because I don't want to have to decorate something. When the New Year hits, I just want to tear off a few baubles and throw it away. I am not really Scrooge this year, but I am not exactly ho-ho-ho Santa Claus. Every Christmas I get about two gifts and they are corporate gifts. My family is really not into gift giving or receiving. We just hang out and watch cartoons or something.

Tonight's episode of "JAG," airing on CBS, at 9 p.m., is ripped from the headlines when Harm (DAVID JAMES ELLIOTT) and Mac (CATHERINE BELL) investigate allegations of prisoner abuse in a terrorist holding facility.

ET was on the set for the "Camp Delta" episode of the military drama, and on tonight's show we have a sneak peek of when the "JAG" legal team travels to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to get to the truth on the goings on.
