The mysterious death of '50s TV "Superman" GEORGE REEVES is investigated in 'Hollywoodland,' with BEN AFFLECK donning the infamous red boots and cape. The typecast actor was found dead with a bullet to his head in his bedroom in 1959, and the jury is out to this day as to whether it was suicide or murder. DIANE LANE is the older woman and wife of a studio head who was having an affair with Reeves, and ADRIEN BRODY plays the gumshoe investigating the case.
It was the premieres of two big movies that provided a number of Hollywood twosomes with a glam night out on Thursday! The noir flick 'Hollywoodland' and the action/adventure drama 'The Guardian' had the likes of ASHTON KUTCHER, KEVIN COSTNER and BEN AFFLECK strolling the red carpet with their lady loves.
Affleck, who stars in the dramatic thriller 'Hollywoodland,' about real-life Superman GEORGE REEVES, arrived at the star-studded premiere solo, but his wife, "Alias" alum JENNIFER GARNER, did show her support by walking the red carpet separately from her hubby. The flick also brought out co-stars DIANE LANE and ADRIEN BRODY.
The Man of Steel made his long-awaited big-screen return this summer to big box office, and now Ben Affleck is taking on the mysterious death of original TV Superman George Reeves in the upcoming drama, 'Hollywoodland,' in theaters September 8.
"The story's about the toll it took on him, the price of ambition," says Ben. "You talk about typecasting and that kind of frustration -- he was one of the first guys to experience that."
