One night after the Final 7 crooned MARIAH CAREY tunes, viewers were all out of "Honey" for KRISTY LEE COOK on Wednesday night's results show.
"Can I go ride my horse now?" the booted blonde asked, dabbing tears from her eyes after being eliminated. Her waterworks might have also had something to do with a certain blunt comment slung at her by SIMON COWELL just moments earlier.
When ELLIOTT YAMIN was a contestant on "American Idol," he revealed that he had been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when he was only 16 years old. Since leaving the show, he has continued to use his celebrity as a platform to bring attention to the disease. As part of that, he has done a few events with Johnson & Johnson, so he was happy to lend his talents to the launch of the new company's new Diabetes Institute in the Silicon Valley.

"American Idol" alum ELLIOTT YAMIN is chasing the same fame dragon as the rest of the "Idol" cast-offs, but he's actually having some respectable success. His self-titled album recently went gold and his first single, "Wait for You," spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the VH1 "V-Spot" video countdown. Now, the funky white boy with the crazy hair has a Christmas album in Target stores called Sounds of the Season and he just finished touring, where he revealed to us the life-saving device he wears on-stage.
TAYLOR HICKS, KATHARINE McPHEE, ELLIOTT YAMIN and the rest of season five's "American Idol" Top 10 are touring the country as part of the Pop Tarts® Presents American Idols Live Tour, and serving as an inspiration for up-and-coming singers who want to audition to become the next superstar.
Even though "American Idol" doesn't return to the tube until January 2007, tryouts for the sixth season have already begun. ET was at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA last week as thousands lined up in an attempt to impress the judges, and today, we're in East Rutherford, NJ at the Continental Airlines Arena for the only East Coast auditions. Hopefuls who make the cut will then get a chance to audition in front of SIMON COWELL, PAULA ABDUL and RANDY JACKSON.
It is just days before the Pop Tarts Presents American Idols Live Tour begins on July 5 in Manchester, NH at the Verizon Wireless Arena, and the season five "American Idol" Top 10 are busy rehearsing for their summer-long performances -- but not too busy to talk to ET about life after the "Idol" competition.
"I freaked out about it a little bit," "Idol" crown-holder TAYLOR HICKS tells ET when asked how it feels to have a No. 1 single with "Do I Make You Proud." "I was in a minivan a year ago making about $50 a night playing bars, clubs and the occasional wedding. The music that I am making now and that I am going to get to make is special."
The "American Idol" bubble has burst with the naming of TAYLOR HICKS as the new "Idol," so now the Final 10 will be leaving Hollywood and heading out across the U.S. The Pop Tarts Presents American Idols Live Tour, scheduled for a record-breaking 60 cities, begins on July 5 in Manchester, NH at the Verizon Wireless Arena and winds down on September 24 in Wilkes-Barre, PA at the Wachovia Center.
But first, the entire gang -- ACE YOUNG, BUCKY COVINGTON, CHRIS DAUGHTRY, KATHARINE McPHEE, KELLIE PICKLER, KEVIN COVAIS, LISA TUCKER, MANDISA, MELISSA McGHEE, PARIS BENNETT and this year's "Idol" -- visit the ET set and give viewers a sample of what they have to look forward to at the concert dates.
A good time was had by all at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, California, where more than 3,000 fans filled the venue to watch as TAYLOR HICKS was named this season's "American Idol."
On tonight's ET, MARK STEINES is with the newest Idol as he wakes up at 4:30 a.m. to begin the first day of his reign. We're traveling by limo with the soul man as he conducts interviews with the FOX affiliates via satellite, followed by a visit to the ET set.
It's down to the Final Two -- next week's "American Idol" showdown will pit the L.A.-based KATHARINE McPHEE against "Soul Patrol" singer TAYLOR HICKS, as viewers said goodbye to ELLIOTT YAMIN in an emotional farewell last night.
"I just thought it was really flattering to have been involved in such a tight-knit race," Elliott commented the morning after his loss. "I just knew -- I had that intuition -- that my name was going to be attached to the bottom number. I was prepared for it. It was easy to take in and grasp and make peace with that, having had that feeling."
ELLIOTT YAMIN, KATHARINE McPHEE and TAYLOR HICKS: which one will be the next "American Idol"? There's only one more week to go before viewers crown the winner, and the tension is mounting. But first the Top 3 have to sing three songs tonight to charm viewers into voting them into the final night of competition.
Tonight, Elliott, Katharine and Taylor will each sing a song selected for them by music mogul CLIVE DAVIS, who will sign the Top 2 to a recording contract; a song picked by the judges; and one of their own favorites.
It was an "American Idol" rocker shocker Wednesday night when host RYAN SEACREST announced that CHRIS DAUGHTRY, who many thought would take home the title this season, had received the lowest number of votes after performing two ELVIS PRESLEY songs for this week's competition.
But there's already a silver lining to his reality cloud -- as Chris tells ET Friday that yes, he did get an offer to be the frontman of hot alternative rock band FUEL. "They did put an offer on the table ... it's all up in the air right now!
"Well, it's one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, now go, cat, go" when CHRIS DAUGHTRY, ELLIOTT YAMIN, KATHARINE McPHEE and TAYLOR HICKS channel their inner ELVIS PRESLEY on tonight's "American Idol."
The Final Four felt like royalty this past weekend as they flew to Memphis to visit Graceland and soak up the magic atmosphere in the King's home. They also received a royal welcome from fans, who turned out en masse, holding signs cheering on their favorites, such as "I Heart Elliott" and "The Soul Patrol" for Taylor. They weren't disappointed. The "Idols" signed autographs and hugged their supporters, before heading inside the mansion.
Even though PARIS BENNETT won't be walking away with the "American Idol" title, she feels that making it into the Final 5 is enough to feel as if she earned the designation.
"I wasn't [singing in the competition] just for the goal of having the title of 'American Idol,'" she explains. "To be a singer and an entertainer is my passion. To me, I've already gotten the title because I'm a role model to more than just little kids, but even to adults and people my age."
Romance was the theme for this week's "American Idol," but there was certainly some love lost for Wednesday night's eliminated contestant: KELLIE PICKLER!
Kellie was joined in the bottom two this week by PARIS BENNETT, but it was the 19-year-old from North Carolina who was ultimately voted off.
On Tuesday night, FOX's "American Idol" hopefuls rocked out with songs by QUEEN, and now, "Another One Bites the Dust" -- BUCKY COVINGTON, who was eliminated this week!
Next Tuesday night, the "Idol" hopefuls will perform classic American songs from one of legendary singer ROD STEWART's The Great American Songbook CDs at 8 p.m. Then Rod will perform live on Wednesday's results show at 9 p.m. on FOX!
It was an "American Idol" shocker Wednesday night when RYAN SEACREST announced the bottom three: MANDISA, ELLIOTT YAMIN and PARIS BENNETT! But when the final numbers were tallied, it was the 29-year-old, plus-sized singer from Antioch, TN, who received the lowest number of votes.
Next Tuesday night, the "American Idol" hopefuls will belt out songs from classic-rock band QUEEN, at 8/7 central on FOX! Then, Wednesday night is a special, one-hour results show at 8:30/7:30 central -- as Queen will perform -- and another singer is sent home!
