Art is imitating life on "Guiding Light" these days because CAITLIN VAN ZANDT, who plays Ashlee on the CBS soap, had lap-band surgery -- and there is no way the actress, who weighs more than 200 pounds, can shed the weight without her character doing the same.
ET was with the 22-year-old soap star as she began the process and we are with her two-and-a-half months later to show you her 30 pounds lighter.

Fans who miss their favorite soaps now have a variety of ways to catch up with all the doings on their daytime dramas.
NBC's "Days of our Lives" is available for download from the iTunes store the day following the broadcast. Episodes will be priced at $1.99 each, and a multi-pass for 20 episodes will be available for $ 9.99. The episodes are commercial-free.

The "34th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmys" have come and gone, and ET was backstage with some of your favorite daytime stars to get the buzz.
"I have some very interesting irons in the fire right now," said GENIE FRANCIS, who won her first-ever Emmy for her role as Laura on "General Hospital." "Something bubbling in primetime television. I can't quite talk about it yet, but it is looking good. There is also the possibility of making a movie of the week, and a possibility of visiting my home plate ['General Hospital']."

TV's top talkers turned out in fine form for "The 34th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards" on Friday night.
From RACHAEL RAY to ELLEN DeGENERES, plus the ladies of "The View" -- minus ROSIE O'DONNELL -- the gathering at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood was stellar, and ET was on the red carpet and backstage for all the daytime drama!

History was made at "The 34th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards" on Friday night when for the first-time ever two soap operas tied in the voting in the Outstanding Drama Series category.
Thus, "Guiding Light" and "The Young and the Restless" shared the top honor for soap operas.

When CAITLIN VAN ZANDT (Ashlee) joined the cast of "Guiding Light," she thought it was just for a few episodes to facilitate Lizzie's (MARCY RYLAN) baby-daddy storyline, but as time went on, the writers kept finding more and more for her to do, until recently she got the happy news that the powers that be wanted her to sign a contract.
"That is what I wanted from the beginning," admits the New York-born actress, who has also appeared on HBO's "The Sopranos." "I love working here."
