MADONNA hopes to finalize her adoption of Malawi toddler DAVID BANDA next week, when she's expected to arrive in the south Africa country to learn the court's final verdict on the matter, Reuters reports. David has been living with the pop star and her husband GUY RITCHIE in London for the past two years -- a move that Madonna says likely saved the little boy's life.
The pop star has been under fire regarding the adoption, however, because some human rights groups in Malawi have said they are concerned the government cut legal corners to fast-track the adoption due to her celebrity. The Material Mom's lawyers deny the allegations.
