Performer IKE TURNER died last month at age 76 due to a cocaine overdose, the San Diego County Medical Examiner's office says, according to The Associated Press.

The medical examiner's office also attributes hypertensive cardiovascular disease and pulmonary emphysema as "significant and contributing factors," the AP reports.

A funeral service for performer IKE TURNER was held in Gardena, CA, on Friday, and music legend LITTLE RICHARD and producer PHIL SPECTOR were among those who eulogized him, The Associated Press reports.

Turner, who made his mark early in his career performing with his former wife, megastar TINA TURNER, in the duo IKE & TINA, passed away on Dec. 12 at age 76.

Singing legend TINA TURNER's representative released the following statement regarding the death of the soul singer's ex-husband, IKE: "Tina is aware that Ike passed away earlier today. She has not had any contact with him in 35 years. No further comment will be made."

The Recording Academy of America also released a statement on Wednesday regarding Ike's death: "There is no doubt that Ike Turner was one of rock and roll's great architects with his genre-defying sound as an instrumentalist and bandleader. His innovative musicality helped lay the foundation for rock and roll and R&B more than 50 years ago. As a bandleader, his well-rehearsed ensembles were some of the most exciting live groups the world had ever heard. As a two-time Grammy Award winner and recipient of The Recording Academy's 2004 Heroes Award, Ike's legacy as a groundbreaking pioneer in the music industry will never be forgotten."

Turner, who performed with his former wife, megastar TINA TURNER, in the duo IKE & TINA, was born in 1931 in Clarksdale, Mississippi.

IKE TURNER, the ex-husband of TINA TURNER, has been released after being arrested Tuesday in Los Angeles on an outstanding warrant from 1989 that had been recalled.

The warrant on drug-related charges was issued in 1989, but was recalled five months later. It was never taken out of the system, and Ike was arrested as a result.
