Britney Spears opened up to the media for the first time in two years in a candid interview in which she talks about her road to recovery and life today with her sons. On tonight's ET, we have a sneak peek of the OK! magazine cover story that is on newsstands this week.
ET has just obtained court papers regarding BRITNEY
SPEARS' recent conservatorship hearing. In the papers, the court extends her
father JAMIE and lawyer ANDREW WALLET's co-conservatorship over the pop princess
and her estate until July 31, 2008.
Luxury cars, a restraining order and the alleged invalidity of the conservatorship are all hot BRITNEY SPEARS topics in new court papers.
First, the pop star's dad and resident co-conservator JAMIE SPEARS has been granted the power to sell or dispose of any of the "Toxic" singer's seven cars. Jamie and fellow Britney conservator, lawyer ANDREW WALLET, contended that the cost of upkeep, storage and insurance of the vehicles was excessive.
BRITNEY SPEARS' dad JAMIE and her lawyers are expected back in a Los Angeles court today to address the issue that they believe MARK VINCENT KAPLAN, the lawyer for Britney's ex KEVIN FEDERLINE, is charging his daughter too much, according to People.
ET confirms a Superior Court commissioner has extended JAMIE SPEARS' co-conservatorship over BRITNEY's estate for another five months, until July 31. As we previously reported, Jamie's control over his daughter's affairs was set to last through March 10.
Hollywood.tv is on the scene as BRITNEY SPEARS is crushed by paparazzi on Monday as she arrives at her doctor's office with her father JAMIE. Later they're both spotted taking a break on the balcony of the doc's office.
A lawyer's attempt to get BRITNEY SPEARS' conservatorship case moved to a federal court has failed, ET can confirm. Federal judge PHILIP GUTIERREZ ruled on Tuesday that attorney JON EARDLEY is not the embattled pop star's lawyer (as Eardley claimed) and thus has no right to act on her behalf. The judge also refused JAMIE SPEARS' request to recover his legal costs spent countering Eardley's move.
In new court papers obtained by ET related to the conservatorship of BRITNEY SPEARS, attorneys for her father and co-conservator, JAMIE SPEARS, counter a lawyer's request for the case to be moved to Federal Court.
In the papers, Jamie's lawyers assert that lawyer JON EARDLEY, who filed a challenge to the conservatorship based on Britney's constitutional rights, has no standing to file the case because he does not represent Britney -- according to a probate court ruling, Britney does not have the capacity to hire an attorney. They also argue in the papers that the case should not be moved to federal court because there is no federal legal question.
BRITNEY SPEARS enjoyed a visit with her sons on Saturday for the first time in over a month, OK! magazine reports. SEAN PRESTON, 2, and JAYDEN JAMES, 1, arrived at Britney's gated community in a Dodge truck at 9 a.m. PST, for a get-together scheduled to last until noon PST, according to the mag. Britney's father JAMIE SPEARS, a psychologist, one of KEVIN FEDERLINE's bodyguards, the court-ordered monitor and a lawyer were all on-hand for the visit, OK! reports.
ET has obtained new documents from the Superior Court of Los Angeles regarding the conservatorship of BRITNEY SPEARS. The papers provide a first-hand look at developments from the Feb. 14 hearing, which saw the pop star's dad JAMIEretain control over her estate through March 10, in addition to being granted powers over her taxes and trust.
As we reported earlier, the "Toxic" singer's Tuesday morning hearing saw no changes to her custody or visitation rights with her young sons.
Sighted by ET for the first time since Wednesday, when she made a nighttime Starbucks run, BRITNEY SPEARS browsed on Friday at MONIQUE LHUILLIER, a designer bridal-gown boutique in L.A. Could wedding bells be on the pop star's mind?
ET has received new court papers related to the conservatorship of BRITNEY SPEARS. A lawyer named JON EARDLEY has filed papers in United States District Court claiming that he is Britney's lawyer, and asking for the conservatorship case to be moved to Federal Court because he claims her that U.S. federal law including her constitutional civil rights are being violated.
Eardley writes in the papers that Britney has been deprived of her civil rights and notes what he calls "the suffocating confinement that Ms. Spears endures at the hands of her conservator."
