Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Winona Ryder, Zoe Saldana, Eric Bana, and J.J. Abrams hit the red carpet in Hollywood for the 'Star Trek' premiere -- and ET was there!
ET's Kevin Frazier sits down with the actors of the new 'Star Trek' film, as well as their fearless leader director J.J. Abrams who opens up about why he didn't cast the original Captain Kirk, William Shatner, for a role in the film.
'Cloverfield' producer J.J. ABRAMS is set to produce a film based on a recent New York Times article, "Mystery on Fifth Avenue" -- but don't expect an adult-themed enigma reminiscent of his brainchild "Lost"!
According to the Hollywood Reporter, PENELOPE GREEN's Times article concerns a NY family's unusual Upper East Side luxury apartment, which the parents reconfigured into a puzzle palace for their four kids. The domicile is now decked out with hidden compartments, codes, and brain-teasers worthy even of the Riddler's admiration.
Fueled by the phenomenal Best Picture Oscar win of 'The Departed,' the film's writer and star are planning on adapting another Hong Kong remake. LEONARDO DiCAPRIO and Oscar-winning writer WILLIAM MONAHAN have acquired the rights to the cop thriller 'Confessions of Pain,' according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film follows a police detective and a private detective as they investigate the murder of the cop's father-in-law, which opens a Pandora's Box of evidence. 'Pain' was created by ALAN MAK, ANDREW LAU and FELIX CHONG, the men behind the Hong Kong-produced 'Infernal Affairs,' on which 'The Departed' was based.
It's the most hotly-awaited flick of 2006 -- and ET's own JANN CARL is on the Shanghai set of the new installment of the blockbuster TOM CRUISE franchise, 'Mission: Impossible 3!'

"What excites me is the people that I am working with," Tom tells Jann. "You have a great story with these twists, and you get involved with the characters -- we've got so many huge sequences, but they're all based on character and great storytelling by [director J.J. ABRAMS]. It's problem solving, and just being creative."
It is no secret that newlywed JENNIFER GARNER, who plays action heroine Sydney Bristow on "Alias," is in the family way. She and husband BEN AFFLECK are expecting their first child in late fall. After much speculation about how the show would handle the actress' pregnancy, ABC President STEPHEN McPHERSON reveals that it will definitely be written into the story.
"We are going to embrace the fact that she is pregnant," McPherson explains. "We're adding some characters to give her some new dynamics and some relationships to play off of. J.J. ABRAMS is really focused on how to do it and make it realistic and not campy. We don't want to put her in situations where she is endangering herself or the baby.
