Public drunkenness and breach of the peace charges against JONATHAN RHYS MEYERS were dropped today because the actor -- through his lawyer -- expressed remorse for his actions, according to The Associated Press.
The charges stemmed from an arrest at the Dublin Airport on November 18 when the star was refused permission to board a flight to London. Rhys Meyers' lawyer said his client's behavior was "unacceptable and out of character" and that Rhys Meyers "unreservedly apologizes." His lawyer also said the 'August Rush' actor plans to make a donation to an unspecified charity to acknowledge his wrongdoing.
