Season seven's climactic battle of the Davids reached its exciting conclusion on Wednesday night's grand finale. Viewers decisively crowned DAVID COOK the new "American Idol," spurring him to victory over DAVID ARCHULETA by a 12-million vote margin.
"I am absolutely at a loss for words right now," Cook stammered, moved to tears by the emotion of his big moment. "This is amazing. Thank you."

One night after "American Idol" raised over $22 million for charity on "Idol Gives Back," viewers received a shock as MICHAEL JOHNS got eliminated from the competition on Thursday night's results show.
"I'm definitely surprised," Michael said. And he was far from the only one in googly-eyed disbelief!

JORDIN SPARKS is on the rise! The former "American Idol" winner's second single "No Air," a duet with CHRIS BROWN, is currently at No. 5 on the music charts, and her self-titled album has gone gold! She'll also tour as the opening act for ALICIA KEYS starting April 19.
But the singing star is just getting started. In the spirit of "Idol Gives Back," Jordin is also giving back with Do Something and Staples. The trio are teaming up with a Public Service Announcement encouraging teens to hold school supply drives this summer and drop off new notebooks, markers, pens, backpacks and other school stuff at any Staples store starting in July for underprivileged kids. The PSA begins airing in May.
