Funnyman STEVE CARELL found himself with another hit on his hands, as 'Evan Almighty' debuted at No. 1 at the box office with $32 million.
The follow-up to 2003's 'Bruce Almighty,' which starred JIM CARREY, finds Carell as a newscaster who realizes that he just might be a modern-day Noah when animals start lining up in his front yard, two by two. MORGAN FREEMAN reprises his 'Bruce' role as God, while "Gilmore Girls"' LAUREN GRAHAM plays Carell's wife.

'Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer' premiered atop the box office with a solid $57.4 million this weekend.
The gang from the first 'Fantastic Four' is back in 'Silver Surfer.' In the action blockbuster, Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards (IOAN GRUFFUDD), The Human Torch/Johnny Storm (CHRIS EVANS), The Thing/Ben Grimm (MICHAEL CHIKLIS) and The Invisible Woman/Sue Storm (JESSICA ALBA) face off against the Silver Surfer (a CGI creation voiced by LAURENCE FISHBURNE).
After premiering their new film in several cities around the globe, GEORGE CLOONEY, BRAD PITT, MATT DAMON and the rest of the 'Ocean's' gang landed atop the box office this weekend, as 'Ocean's Thirteen' premiered with $37.1 million.
In the third pic in the 'Ocean's' trilogy, Danny Ocean's (George) mentor, Reuben Tishkoff (ELLIOTT GOULD), is double-crossed by ruthless casino owner Willy Bank (AL PACINO). The slight puts Reuben in a hospital bed in critical condition, and prompts Danny and the boys to seek revenge against "The Bank," which also happens to be the name of Willy's new Las Vegas casino, and his right-hand woman, Abigail Sponder (ELLEN BARKIN). Directed by STEVEN SODERBERGH, the film also brings back DON CHEADLE, CASEY AFFLECK, BERNIE MAC, SCOTT CAAN, EDDIE JEMISON, SHAOBO QIN and ANDY GARCIA.
The 'Pirates' held on to No. 1 for a second week, taking in $43.2 million at the box office over the weekend.
Captain Jack Sparrow (the role that earned JOHNNY DEPP a 2004 Oscar nom) wields his sword once more in 'Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.' ANGELINA JOLIE is a 'Wanted' woman. The busy star, mom and Goodwill Ambassador will play an assassin in her next movie, an adaptation of the graphic novel Wanted, according to Daily Variety.
Angelina will star alongside JAMES McAVOY ('The Last King of Scotland,' 'The Chronicles of Narnia') and MORGAN FREEMAN in the story of a young man who follows in his father's footsteps after he learns that his murdered dad was an assassin. Angelina will play a character who shows him the ropes of the craft. Filming is scheduled to start this May in Eastern Europe, with 'Night Watch' Russian helmer TIMUR BEKMAMBETOV directing.
"Grey's Anatomy" star KATHERINE HEIGL spent the summer lugging around a baby bump -- and the father of the unborn child isn't her new fiancé, musician JOSH KELLEY.
"It feels as if there is levity now to the relationship," says the actress, who became engaged in June. "The proposal was very sweet, but very personal. He did a great job. I had an idea it was coming. I didn't know when, where, or how, so that was all a big surprise."
