When the 49-city "Pop-Tarts Presents American Idol Live! Tour 2008," hits your city, David Cook, David Archuleta, Jason Castro, Michael Johns and the rest of the Top 10 will be performing mini-concerts, with just a couple of group numbers thrown into the mix. So each time an "Idol" finalist comes on the stage, it will have an entirely new look.
Songs from the MARIAH CAREY songbook brought KRISTY LEE COOK to the end of her "American Idol" dreams.
In a phone call the morning after learning of her exit, she told reporters, "It has been tough being in the bottom three, but with the first few times, I built up stamina for it. I got a little tougher each time and I learned to control my emotions. Specifically for this last time, it was nerve-wracking because none of us knew what was going on and how they were separating the groups. It was definitely a shock for me to go home. I wanted to make Final 5, but I am happy BROOKE [WHITE] is still in. She is one of my best friends."
One night after the Final 7 crooned MARIAH CAREY tunes, viewers were all out of "Honey" for KRISTY LEE COOK on Wednesday night's results show.
"Can I go ride my horse now?" the booted blonde asked, dabbing tears from her eyes after being eliminated. Her waterworks might have also had something to do with a certain blunt comment slung at her by SIMON COWELL just moments earlier.
DAVID ARCHULETA drew first position. His MARIAH CAREY song choice was "When You Believe." Judge RANDY JACKSON commented, "I was a little worried about tonight with boys singing girl songs. That was one of the toughest ones. I always say, if you can sing, you can sing anything. You can sing. That was the bomb, baby." Paula pointed out, "It must feel great for Mariah to hear your interpretation of the song. You made her proud." Simon agreed, saying, "I would have bet a million dollars on you choosing that song. I thought it was very good. You set the benchmark. I think the guys are going to have an easier time with the songs than the gals because there isn't the comparison."
"American Idol" judge PAULA ABDUL stopped by the ET stage this morning, and filled MARY HART in on all the latest from the hit talent competition -- as well as a little dish from tonight's "Idol Gives Back," airing on FOX beginning at 7:30 p.m.
As part of "Idol Gives Back" week, the Final 8 "American Idol" contestants were required to sing inspirational songs on Tuesday night's performance show. According to the judges, the standout performances of the night were JASON CASTRO, DAVID ARCHULETA and KRISTY LEE COOK.
The night after "American Idol"'s top nine performed DOLLY PARTON tunes, one finalist was left with ample time to visit Dollywood, the country legend's Tennessee theme park. RAMIELE MALUBAY was sent home on Wednesday evening's results show, a decision that led to a tearful goodbye hug between the 20-year-old and her bottom-three buddies, BROOKE WHITE and KRISTY LEE COOK.
The evening's other big news came from DAVID COOK, who declared himself healthy after yesterday's hospital scare. "The whole thing got blown out of proportion," he said. "I've got high blood pressure and it spiked. But I'm cool. I'm not going anywhere."
When the Final 10 "American Idol" hopefuls took the stage on Tuesday night, they performed songs from the year they were born. Standout performances of the night included MICHAEL JOHNS and DAVID COOK.
When "American Idol"'s Final 11 took to the stage, it was for an encore night of performances selected from the LENNON/McCARTNEY songbook. The hopefuls were give a second shot at choosing a BEATLES song that would earn them praise from the judges, but only a few succeeded.
The long awaited night arrived when the "American Idol" contestants were able to open up the LENNON-McCARTNEY songbook and perform tunes made famous by the BEATLES.
