MARLEE MATLIN took to the dance floor for the last time Tuesday night, as she became the most recent cast-off from ABC's "Dancing with the Stars."
The Oscar winner was widely admired for doing so well in the competition, despite being deaf and not being able to hear the music. Upon receiving the news, she expressed her thanks to the judges, her partner FABIAN SANCHEZ, her family and children, and her good pal, the Fonz, HENRY WINKLER. She also told the judges, "I have the utmost respect for you."

The competition continued to amp up on Monday night, as the celebs took to the dance floor on ABC's hit "Dancing with the Stars."
JASON TAYLOR and EDYTA SLIWINSKA opened the night with their sultry cha cha. The judges had mixed reviews, granting them a score of 24 out of 30. Judge LEN GOODMAN said, "My heart went out to you, you made me smile, because you were trying to count." Judge BRUNO TONIOLI said he was "flamboyant" and "cheeky" but the "footwork wasn't as good as it could have been." Judge CARRIE ANN INABA, meanwhile, said he had "big man syndrome" and also noted, "You're dancing smaller than you should be."

MARIO and KARINA SMIRNOFF kicked off the "Dancing with the Stars" competition night with the samba. LEN GOODMAN complimented them, saying, "This dance suited you. It has a freedom about it. It is a party dance. You had abandon. Work on your footwork a little more, but I have to tell you, it's your best dance so far." BRUNO TONIOLI said, "It was very vigorous. Beautifully done. A very good samba. Classically done. I loved it." CARRIE ANN INABA told them, "What I loved about this routine, is it was nice and clean and to the point. It was a classic routine. If that is your spirit, it is so smooth." It was a great start to the night with 27 out of 30 points.
On Tuesday night's "Dancing with the Stars," kicking off the battle for the mirrored-disco ball trophy were high-scoring couple KRISTI YAMAGUCHI and her professional partner MARK BALLAS. Lead judge LEN GOODMAN began the night's criticism, saying, "You can't dance badly in my opinion. Every performance, you have great technique. Mark, you have great choreography. My slight criticism is that every dance has a sameness about it. Not in the choreography, [but in the feel]." BRUNO TONIOLI overrode Len, pointing out, "I think you were unleashed. You were Jezebel out there. The jumps you did were so difficult and you were right on it." CARRIE ANN INABA declared, "You set the standard for this competition. I think it is because of you everybody is working their booties off trying to catch up. You took some chances out there." Kristi and Mark got a 29, with the first 10s of the season being awarded by Carrie Ann and Bruno.

SHANNON ELIZABETH and DEREK HOUGH were the first to take the stage on Wednesday night with their cha cha cha, setting the bar with a score of 21. Judge LEN GOODMAN called it a "great start" but warned Shannon to keep her "legs exactly right." Judge BRUNO TONIOLI said she had "great natural extension," while judge CARRIE ANN INABA said she had "great energy" and "great confidence," but cautioned, "I would say work on your flexibility."
When "Dancing with the Stars" premieres its new season on Monday, March 17 and Tuesday, March 18, MARLEE MATLIN will be making her dancing premiere, along with her professional partner FABIAN SANCHEZ.

MARLEE MATLIN is giving up cookies, French fries and pizza -- and doing the Zone Diet to get in shape for the Monday, March 17 premiere of "Dancing with the Stars."
"I think I show more skin on this show than I do 'The L Word,'" says Marlee, who plays JENNIFER BEALS' lover on the Showtime series. "There is no T&A on 'The L Word' for me, but there seems to be here."
