ABC has canceled its show "Men in Trees," reports tvguide.com. Series creator JENNY BICKS told TV Guide that she believes that two years of back and forth scheduling is what brought about the show's fate.

Real-life couple ANNE HECHE and JAMES TUPPER are busy at work for the second season of their hit ABC show, "Men in Trees," but they made time for ET as we visited them on the Canadian set.
"I think our show was quirky the first season. Now I think, because all these characters have been introduced and explored so fully with the first season, we actually get to get deeper into their lives," Anne tells ET. "It's not as quirky, it's more of a deeper exploration."
ANNE HECHE is responding to divorce papers filed by her estranged husband, COLEY LAFFOON, who alleges that she is "bizarre and delusional."
In her papers, Heche asks for temporary sole custody of their son, HOMER, with reasonable visitation by Laffoon. She also asks that Homer be allowed to attend kindergarten in Vancouver, Canada, in the fall, where she films her television show, "Men in Trees."
ET has obtained new divorce and child custody documents filed by ANNE HECHE's estranged husband, COLEY LAFFOON, who alleges that the "Men in Trees" star is "bizarre and delusional."
In the papers, Laffoon describes Heche as an unsuitable mom who refuses to seek help for her reported psychological issues, saying she "has at times exhibited bizarre and delusional behavior for which she refuses to seek professional help."
Fans of "Grey's Anatomy," "Ugly Betty" and "Brothers & Sisters" are guaranteed another season of their favorite shows, because ABC announced early pickups today of 14 series. Also on the list are "Men in Trees," "The Bachelor," "Boston Legal," "Dancing with the Stars," "Desperate Housewives," "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and "Lost."
ABC Entertainment President STEPHEN McPHERSON made the announcement at the March Development Meeting in Los Angeles. These series join previously announced "America's Funniest Home Videos," "Supernanny" and "Wife Swap," which have also been renewed for the 2007-08 season.
ET confirms that the husband of "Men in Trees" star ANNE HECHE has filed for divorce.
COLEY LAFFOON filed divorce papers in Los Angeles this week, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. Laffoon also asks for spousal support and requests joint custody of their four-year-old son, HOMER. Anne and Coley were married in 2001.
Sources tell ET that ANNE HECHE has left her husband, COLEY LAFFOON, for her "Men in Trees" co-star JAMES TUPPER.
Heche's rep confirms that she and Laffoon have separated. The two were married in 2001 and have a son together. The rep issued this statement: "Actress Anne Heche and her husband Coleman Laffoon have decided to separate after five years of marriage. They have requested that they be allowed their privacy at this time."

From "Sex and the City" to sex and Alaska, "Men In Trees" creator JENNY BICKS shifts focus from an author in the Big Apple to one living in the frigid Northwest.
Despite the change in location, "Men In Trees" has the same great sexual chemistry that Bicks' breakthrough show, "Sex and the City," had.
From creator and co-executive producer Jenny Bicks ("Sex & the City") comes the drama "Men in Trees," about New York relationship coach Marin Frist. On her way to a speaking engagement in Alaska, Marin discovers that her fiancé is cheating on her, which destroys her confidence in everything she believes. To add to her misery, the fish-out-of-water city girl is then snowed in and stuck in the small town of Elmo, Alaska -- with her wedding gown!
Since the ratio of men to women in Elmo is 10 to one, Marin decides to stay there and research a new book about men. Among the members of the opposite sex she meets are Buzz, the pilot of the only airplane that goes to and from Elmo; Ben, the bartender with a secret past; Patrick, a Marin Frist fan who runs an inn and radio station; and environmentalist -- and major hunk -- Jack.
ABC has three of the hottest TV shows on the tube right now: "Grey's Anatomy," "Lost" and "Desperate Housewives." That doesn't mean the alphabet network can rest on its laurels, so for the fall, it has announced that it is picking up several pilots.
Dramas: TAYE DIGGS, who spent a season on UPN in "Kevin Hill," returns to the small screen to headline "Day Break," the story of a cop who has been framed for murder. Also making a return to TV is "Ally McBeal" star CALISTA FLOCKHART as an outspoken radio personality swept up in a wave of family drama in "Brothers & Sisters." From "Sex and the City" writer JENNY BICKS comes "Men in Trees," which follows the misadventures of a relationship coach (ANNE HECHE) who fails to follow her own advice.
