Noah Wyle is back in a big way, reprising his role as Dr. John Carter for the final four episodes of "ER" -- and now saving the world with a third installment of his hit 'Librarian' series. Read on to find out which classic foe he faces!
"ER," currently in its 14th season, returns to NBC on Thursday, April 10th at 10:00 p.m., and this fall the long-running medical drama will begin its 15th and final season. As part of that, executive producer JOHN WELLS announced today that NOAH WYLE will be returning to the show next year for four episodes.
If tongue-in-cheek 'Indiana Jones'-type adventure films are up your alley, check out TNT's "The Librarian: Return to King Solomon's Mines," premiering Sunday, Dec. 3 at 8 p.m. Former "ER" doc NOAH WYLE is back for a second go-round as Flynn Carsen, a 30-something man who spent the majority of his life in academia, until he became "The Librarian."
Flynn's new job is top secret. Not normal for a librarian, but he doesn't work at a normal library. Rather, he is the guardian of a secret institution where all the mythological artifacts of the world are stored. While Flynn loves being surrounded by these wondrous relics -- The Holy Grail, the Spear of Destiny, Excalibur and the goose that lays the golden egg -- what he is still getting used to are the dangerous missions he is required to make.
As "ER" top doc John Carter, NOAH WYLE saves lives, one at a time, but as Flynn Carsen in TNT's "The Librarian: Quest for the Spear," he is charged with saving the world.
"The Librarian" is a classic, fish-out-of-water story about a 30-something man who has spent his entire life in academia. He has never had a girlfriend or a real job. Then one day, his professor throws him out of graduate school and he receives a letter inviting him to apply for a job as The Librarian.
Father's Day is this Sunday, so ET checked in with some of TV's hottest dads -- "ER"'s NOAH WYLE, "24"'s KIEFER SUTHERLAND, "Angel"'s DAVID BOREANAZ and "Nip/Tuck"'s JULIAN McMAHON -- to find out how fatherhood changed their lives.
NOAH WYLE: I love fatherhood. I don't think words can possibly describe how much I love it. It's everything I ever wanted. And it pains me on the days that I have to go to work while he's still asleep and I get home and he's asleep, and we don't get to see each other. But very few fathers have an opportunity to work for a few years while their kids are this young and then have the freedom to spend the bulk of the time with them through their adolescence, and so that's the game plan. It is all worth it.
When NOAH WYLE says that "ER" is the longest relationship he has had in his life, he almost isn't kidding. The 10 years he has spent on the medical drama is close to a third of his 32-year-old life!
Over the decade, Noah's character, Dr. John Carter, has made the transition from a green, fourth-year medical student to leading the emergency room staff as its attending physician, but not without a bumpy ride.
Human life is always in jeopardy on NBC's acclaimed doctor drama "ER," but on Thursday, Nov. 20's "Freefall" episode, a helicopter crash threatens the lives of the ER staff as well as its patients.
Tonight, ET is on the set with "ER"'s newest cast member, LINDA CARDELLINI, who began her run as Nurse Samantha Taggart on Oct. 30, and four-year veteran GORAN VISNJIC (Dr. Luka Kovac) to catch the medical team in action!
Paging Dr. Doug Ross! Must-see GEORGE CLOONEY shares fond memories of life in the emergency room with the rest of the celeb "staff" of the acclaimed TV drama on the DVD release of "ER: The Complete First Season."
"I think I was the first one cast in it," George remembers. "This was a really good script, it was working with (executive producers) JOHN WELLS, working with MICHAEL CRICHTON and STEVEN SPIELBERG. It was a great character."
In stores August 26th, the first season DVD of the Emmy-winning series includes new interviews with not only gorgeous George, but handsome NOAH WYLE, ANTHONY EDWARDS, JULIANNA MARGULIES and others from the cast. Fans can re-live how it all began, from Nurse Hathaway's suicide attempt over Clooney's Dr. Ross to Dr. Carter's very first day as an ER doc, as well as all 25 episodes, outtakes, "personal notes" from series creator and best-selling author Crichton, and even special interactive features like the "First Year Intern Handbook."
