The "People's Choice Awards" took on a new format this year as a result of the writers strike. Instead of the normal set-up with an audience and the winners taking to the stage, the nominees were presented through the use of clips and filmed acceptances.

The 34th Annual People's Choice Awards, featuring a new "magazine style" format that increases viewer participation, will air on CBS on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, with QUEEN LATIFAH as host.
"With the reinvention of People's Choice, we're allowing entertainment enthusiasts to have even more influence on the show," said Fred Nelson, president of People's Choice. "The new approach will give fans a more personal glimpse into the lives of their favorite actors and musicians."

JESSICA SIMPSON helped kick off the first big show of 2006 -- the 32nd Annual People's Choice Awards on January 10 -- with a rousing rendition of her 'Dukes of Hazzard' ballad, "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'," which won the award for Favorite Song From a Movie. The blonde bombshell left the crowd panting as she strutted her stuff in a sexy red corset and matching boots.
Other hotties who picked up awards were Favorite Male Action Star MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY, Favorite Female Movie Star SANDRA BULLOCK and Favorite Male Movie Star JOHNNY DEPP. And the force was strong with GEORGE LUCAS, who was on hand to accept the Favorite Movie award for 'Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith,' presented to him by pal HARRISON FORD.
