It was a tearful night for RAMIELE MALUBAY on Wednesday when the petite [she stands 4 feet 11 inches] 20-year-old from Miramar, Florida, learned that her "American Idol" journey had come to an end.

"My goal was to just get by week-by-week," she said in a phone call the morning after her "Idol" exit. "I didn't want to think that I was going to get to first place or second place, because if you think of it that way, your experience is totally erased. I didn't want that to happen. My goal was to get as far as I could. I made it onto the tour, so I am really excited about that."

One night after "American Idol" contestants revisited the LENNON/McCARTNEY songbook, viewers told another finalist to hit "the long and winding road," crystallizing this season's touring Top 10 during Wednesday night's results show.

On the heels of her "pitchy" rendition of "Back in the U.S.S.R.," gruff rocker AMANDA OVERMYER got the boot. KRISTY LEE COOK and CARLY SMITHSON nearly did, too, as they rounded out the bottom three.

When "American Idol"'s Final 11 took to the stage, it was for an encore night of performances selected from the LENNON/McCARTNEY songbook. The hopefuls were give a second shot at choosing a BEATLES song that would earn them praise from the judges, but only a few succeeded.

The pressure was intense as the Final 8 "American Idol" gals took the stage for their last shot at making it into the Top 12. As did the guys on Tuesday night, the ladies made their song choices from tunes from the '80s -- everything from WHITNEY HOUSTON to PHIL COLLINS.
