"I'm With Her," the name of the new series, is said to be loosely based on his experience, just to make it clear that everything you see didn't happen in real life.
Starring TERI POLO as Alex Young, a famous movie star, and DAVID SUTCLIFFE as Patrick Owen, a down-to-earth high school teacher who gets bitten by love, the ABC series, set to air this fall on Tuesdays at 8:30 p.m., illustrates the funny side of life dating a celebrity.
On tonight's ET, MARK STEINES goes behind the scenes for an insider's look at the promising new sitcom.
"What makes this story interesting is the world around us could be crazy, but I would look at her, and go, 'She's probably the most normal girlfriend I've had in years,'" Chris explains. "So I dipped into a weird pool, but she was this great girl that made all these situations fantastic, the kind of girl you want to bring home to your mom."
In the first episode, "I'm With Her" explores how Patrick becomes tabloid fodder, is stalked by paparazzi and almost loses his teaching position. Needless to say, he questions whether or not he can find love in the public eye.
