ET has confirmed that Bernie Mac has been hospitalized in Chicago for pneumonia.

The 50-year-old funnyman's rep says that the star "is responding well to treatment and will be released soon," and added that the illness is not related to Bernie's diagnosis of the autoimmune disease sarcoidosis, which causes inflammation in such organs as the lungs and lymph nodes.

"The Bernie Mac Show" is gearing up for its third season and ET is on the set to check up on the hilarious gang!

The FOX show (Wednesday 9 p.m.), revolves around BERNIE MAC and his wife Wanda (KELLITA SMITH), a successful couple (he a thriving stand-up comedian and she a vice president of a major corporation) that never planned to have kids.
