Lisa Ling, a former co-host of "The View," has found a provocative side project to work on in between her regular gigs as National Geographic's "Explorer" host and an in-depth reporter for "The OPRAH WINFREY Show."
"Who Cares About Girls?," premiering June 24 at 10 p.m. on Oxygen, focuses on the dangerous and risky lives of impoverished young girls from disadvantaged areas around the globe.
"I would tell no one until I felt safe enough to share my dark past," OPRAH says in the February issue of O magazine, which is on stands now. "The years I was sexually abused, from age 10 to 14, my resulting promiscuity as a teenager, and finally, at 14, my becoming pregnant."
Oprah says she was so ashamed that she hid the pregnancy until her growing belly and swollen ankles revealed the truth. Oprah gave birth to the baby, but it sadly died in the hospital weeks after it was born.
OPRAH WINFREY and GAYLE KING traveled cross-country more than 3,500 miles this summer on an all-girls road trip, making stops in Las Vegas, Durango, Tulsa, Wichita, Memphis and Cincinnati, to name a few cities, before the final leg of their journey, which took them into Manhattan.
The majority of the 11-day excursion went without a hitch. Okay, there was the night that Oprah was booked to stay in a teepee, but it didn't have windows! And then there was the argument that Oprah and Gayle got into over the meaning of the words in PAUL SIMON's "Graceland" song that he personally had to resolve for them. Still, Lady O and her entourage were totally surprised when they got pulled over by Trooper Buddy!
