Veteran Hollywood manager, producer and power broker Bernie Brillstein died Thursday night of heart disease at a Los Angeles hospital, reports his production company. He was 77.
Hollywood's best and brightest braved the rain to celebrate the Screen Actors Guild 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
New York Senator HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON aims to beat out her Democratic compatriots in the race for U.S. President, but first she announced the winner of another competition -- the official anthem for her 2008 campaign -- in a unique twist that takes a page from TV mobster Tony Soprano.
Clinton chose to reveal the winner of the song competition -- CELINE DION's "You and I," which was actually a write-in idea -- via a short video on her official Web site and on YouTube which spoofs the much-talked about season finale of HBO's "Sopranos."
When CAITLIN VAN ZANDT (Ashlee) joined the cast of "Guiding Light," she thought it was just for a few episodes to facilitate Lizzie's (MARCY RYLAN) baby-daddy storyline, but as time went on, the writers kept finding more and more for her to do, until recently she got the happy news that the powers that be wanted her to sign a contract.
"That is what I wanted from the beginning," admits the New York-born actress, who has also appeared on HBO's "The Sopranos." "I love working here."
Bada Bing! Tony (JAMES GANDOLFINI) and his crew are back for the final nine episodes of "The Sopranos." The beginning of the end starts Sunday, April 8 at 9 p.m. on HBO, when Tony, who survived a close call with death at the hands of his uncle last season, struggles to remind himself that each day is a gift; and wife Carmela (EDIE FALCO) plans for a future that may not happen.
"I am so sad," Edie told ET at the premiere for this season's "The Sopranos." "I have had nothing but great things to say about this [job] from the get-go. No actor is luckier. It has been the ideal job, and I will miss it terribly."
With "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" on hiatus, NBC is getting a whole lot grittier in the Monday night 10 p.m. timeslot when it premieres "The Black Donnellys" tonight.
"The Black Donnellys" are four young, working-class Irish-American brothers who are involved in organized crime in New York City and have very strong family values. In fact, so deep-seated is their connection that they will do anything to protect each other.
TIM DALY ("Wings") is back on the tube in the critically acclaimed series, "The Nine," as a cop who becomes a hostage in a bank robbery.
The twist is that the story really begins when the hostages are released. It is only in flashbacks that viewers learn what really happened during the 52 hours that the nine people who survived the robbery were in the bank.
"The Sopranos" star James Gandolfini has signed a three-year exclusive production deal with HBO. The agreement marks the launch of the three-time Emmy winner's company, Attaboy Films.
Among the first projects Gandolfini and his producing partner Alex Ryan are developing is the biopic "Hemingway," in which the actor will star, as well as "Occupation Iraq," a documentary about American soldiers in Iraq.
Some surprises and even a few "desperate" snubs came out of this morning's Emmy nominations, when BRAD GARRETT and JULIA LOUIS-DREYFUS announced the contenders for the 58th Annual Primetime Emmy® Awards!
Leading the TV series race this time out is "24," which pulled in 12 nods, followed by "Grey's Anatomy" with 11 noms and "Will and Grace" with 10 -- but missing from any lead acting categories were popular drama "Lost" and those feisty "Desperate Housewives."
When the 58th Annual Primetime Emmy® Awards nominations are announced by BRAD GARRETT and JULIA LOUIS-DREYFUS on Thursday morning, expect some surprises. The voting for the prestigious TV awards has been changed this year to try to level out the competition between the big three networks and the smaller channels, so shows such as the "Gilmore Girls," "Veronica Mars" and "Battlestar Galactica" may finally get the recognition TV critics feel they deserve.
"This year the Emmy nominations should not look like a rerun," says Emmy expert TOM O'NEIL, who shares his expertise with ET and also on his Web site goldderby.latimes.com, which is part of theenvelope.latimes.com. "There is a new voting process that hopes to welcome in new blood."
They're back. It's been a long 21 months for fans of New Jersey's favorite mob family "The Sopranos," but the HBO series finally kicked off its sixth season Sunday evening with an episode that ended with a bang.
Season five of "The Sopranos" debuted on HBO last week and from the opening shot in which the newspaper is laying ignored in the driveway, it is obvious things have changed. According to executive producer/creator DAVID CHASE, this year's episodes deal with the limitations of family and friendship in a materialistic world.
Additionally, Tony's (JAMES GANDOLFINI) leadership will be challenged as many of the new additions to the cast -- from the Mob Class of 2004 -- are former "made" guys just getting out of prison after serving 15 to 20 years. Among those are ROBERT LOGGIA, playing Feech LaManna, a former mob boss; FRANKIE VALLI as Rusty Millio, a rival family member; FRANK VINCENT, playing Phil Leotardo, one of Johnny Sack's gang; and JOE SANTOS, playing Angelo Garepe, an ex-consigliere. The idea came from an article that Chase read in the Newark Star Ledger about the highly publicized RICO cases of the '80s, and the fact that a lot of those guys have served their time and are being released.
