ET can confirm that tonight's taping of "The Tonight Show" has been canceled because Jay Leno was feeling ill.
Hours after officially announcing plans for his new show, Jay Leno pounced on the opportunity to joke about his move to primetime during Tuesday night’s “Tonight Show” monologue.
Despite announcing five years ago that Jay Leno would step down from "The Tonight Show" to make way for Conan O'Brien, NBC said today the late-night talker won't be leaving the network after all.
ET has confirmed that the jobs of the non-writing staffs of both "The Tonight Show with JAY LENO" and "Late Night with CONAN O'BRIEN" are in jeopardy. They have been given notice that they will be laid off next week as a result of the WGA strike.
Leno has refused to cross the picket line, so the late-night show is considering using guest hosts to get the show back into production. But those involved are hoping that Leno will change his mind and return to work in order to save the jobs of the non-writing staff.

Each DVD features bonus material, including a recently recovered show from 1969 when DEAN MARTIN surprised Johnny and BOB HOPE. Ultimately, there would be six guests crammed onto his famous couch, including ROBERT WAGNER.

Looking to get on TV? Jay Leno just may be the key. "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" is looking for a new correspondent to join the ranks of Howie Mandel, Tom Green and ROSS THE INTERN.
"I am the perfect example of someone who was plucked from obscurity and given an opportunity to make my dreams come true," says Ross the Intern. "If it weren't for 'The Tonight Show,' I'd be working at a kiosk in a mall somewhere -- not that there's anything wrong with that."
