ET confirms that WGA members wrote a definitive ending to the 14-week writers strike, ratifying the new three-year contract by a considerable majority. When the final vote of 4,060 Guild members in NY and L.A. was tallied, 93.6 percent of the ballot-casters said "yea" to the deal, effective through May 1, 2011.

"This contract is a new beginning for writers in the Digital Age," said PATRIC M. VERRONE, president of the WGA West. "It ensures that Guild members will be fairly compensated for the content they create for the Internet, and it also covers the reuse on new media platforms of the work they have done in film since 1971 and in TV since 1977."

The WGA has finalized a tentative deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) that could potentially end the three-month-long strike, according to Variety. The WGA's leadership will now present the pact to Guild members in Los Angeles and New York to gauge whether the 10,000-plus striking writers find its terms acceptable, the mag reports. A formal decision is expected on Sunday, with WGA members returning to work as early as Monday if the deal is reached.

Marvel Studios struck an interim deal with the WGA on Wednesday that brings more Guild members back to work for the powerhouse behind the "Spider-Man" trilogy. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but returning writers might expect to have a hand in Marvel's upcoming development slate.

"We look forward to resuming work with writers on our future projects including 'Captain America,' 'Thor,' 'Ant-Man' and 'The Avengers,'" said Marvel Studios Chairman DAVID MAISEL.

The WGA tells ET in a statement that the Guild has accepted the producers' entreaty to hold informal discussions about returning to the bargaining table. And in the interest of compromise, the WGA says it's even agreed to rescind a couple of its proposals regarding reality programming and animation.

As we reported earlier, the Guild announced that it would not picket the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, though it still hasn't decided whether to let its members work on the awards show.

The Writers Guild of America issued a new statement today updating its members on the status of negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).

Attempting to clear up the "rumors, half-truths and misinformation about what is actually happening at the bargaining table," the WGA stated that the AMPTP's latest offer to the Writers Guild -- $130 million over three years -- falls approximately $21 million short of WGA's $151 million asking price.
