Katie Couric Reveals She Went on a Date With Bob Saget and Kissed Him

The news anchor shared the moment with Saget's wife, Kelly Rizzo, on the latest episode of her podcast.

Katie Couric is sharing a fun tidbit about her past with Bob Saget!

On the latest episode of iHeartPodcasts' Next Question with Kate Couric podcast, the former anchor is joined by Saget's widow, Kelly Rizzo, and his best friend and Full House co-star, John Stamos.

Before jumping into their conversation about Stamos' memoir, If You Would Have Told Me, in which he shares memories about his time with Saget, Couric makes her reveal.

"I had a date with [Bob] once, as you know," she tells Rizzo, who is joining her as a co-host. "I really liked him. I found him so cute and funny and amusing, and I did think we shared a pretty nice kiss in the foyer of my apartment."

Rizzo was flattered by the reveal and shared her late husband's feelings for the former Today host.

"He always thought you were lovely, he was a big fan. He adored you," she adds.

According to Couric, it wasn't enough for the Full House star to call her back, though she doesn't mind as he found the love of his life.

"Well, not enough to call me again," she quips. "But that’s OK because it all worked out. He found the love of his life with you."

Stamos admits that he had a hand in Saget and Couric's brief fling, as he made sure to coach his friend on the right moves.

"Katie, if you and I went out instead of you and Bob, we'd probably still be dating," Stamos says. "Out of me, [Dave] Coulier, and Saget, you could have started with me."

In defense of Saget, Stamos reveals that his friend was intimidated by the award-winning journalist.

"I think he was intimidated by you," he adds. "I used to have to Cyrano him. Like, I would tell him what to text and what to say, and what to do on these dates. I should have gone back to my texts, because I feel like I was texting him, 'Don't blow it. Act smart around Katie. She's a very intelligent woman, she isn’t just beautiful. Be careful, Bob.'"

Stamos was quick to point out the thing that he, Rizzo and Couric all had in common.

"And you guys kissed, right?" he asks Couric.

"We did. And as Kelly knows, he was a good kisser," she adds.

"I know too," he says. "There are three of us here that have kissed him."

Today, Couric is married to John Molner -- whom she has been married to since 2014. Stamos is married to Caitlin McHugh, whom he has been married to since 2018.

Rizzo and Saget tied the knot in 2018 and were married until his untimely death at the age of 65 in 2022. In the months following his death, it was confirmed that he died of head trauma, following an unwitnessed fall backward.

During their emotional conversation, Rizzo tells Stamos how much the chapters of his memoir about Saget meant to her.

"You write about even parts of our relationship or mine and Bob's, as a husband, as a friend, as a brother. You said that you guys had always wanted brothers, and so you guys finally did become that to each other," she tearfully says. "It wasn't right away, it took a few years. But I told you yesterday when I called you in tears, that it just meant so much to me that you told his story so beautifully and about just who he was and how people reading this are just going to get such an incredible picture of who he truly was."

She adds, "I had really only heard Bob's perspective and you just did such a beautiful, wonderful tribute to him and he would be so proud. I know his girls are going to be so proud. I'm so proud. And you should just be so proud."
