Two-time Academy Award-winning star Sean Penn will receive the distinguished "Hollywood Humanitarian Award" at the Hollywood Awards Gala Ceremony, hosted by our own Mary Hart.

The Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Awards, presented by Starz, announced that Penn will be this year's recipient for his outstanding humanitarian achievements. Penn will be recognized for his "incredible selfless and dedicated humanitarian efforts" in saving lives and bringing relief to the human suffering in quake-ravaged Haiti. Penn's humanitarian efforts also include work in New Orleans in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

"It is an honor to recognize the inspiring humanitarian efforts that Sean Penn and his J/P Haitian Relief Organization have been providing to the great people of Haiti," said Hollywood Film Festival Founder and Executive Director Carlos de Abreu.

The gala ceremony will take place October 25 in Beverly Hills.
