'Apocalypse Now' Full Disclosure Edition on Blu-ray
Francis Ford Coppola's Oscar-nominated cinematic masterpiece explodes in stunning high definition on Blu-ray for the first time. Martin Sheen plays Benjamin Willard, an army captain sent on a dangerous, top-secret mission during the Vietnam War to assassinate rogue Green Beret Col. Kurtz (Marlon Brando) in the jungles of Cambodia, journeying into the heart of darkness itself. Dennis Hopper, Laurence Fishburne and Harrison Ford also star.
Available as the 3-disc 'Apocalypse Now Full Disclosure Edition' and the 'Apocalypse Now 2-Film Set,' both versions contain the 1979 cut and 'Apocalypse Now Redux,' presented in their original theatrical aspect ratios. Special features include commentary by Coppola and more than nine hours of bonus material featuring new interviews with on-screen and behind-the-scenes talent including a new interview with Coppola and Sheen and Coppola with screenwriter John Milius; "Fred Roos: Casting Apocalypse" with never-before-seen screen tests; "'Apocalypse' Then and Now"; "The Color Palette of Apocalypse Now"; "A Million Feet of Film: The Editing of Apocalypse Now"; "Heard Any Good Movies Lately? The Sound Design of Apocalypse Now"; "The Birth of 5.1 Sound"; deleted scenes including the jettisoned final credits sequence "Destruction of the Kurtz Compound"; storyboards; marketing archive; an audio recording of Orson Welles' Mercury Theater Production of 'Heart of Darkness' and much more.
The Full Disclosure Edition also includes the acclaimed making-of feature-length documentary 'Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse' along with a keepsake case featuring archival poster images designed by Japanese artist Eiko Ishioka and 48-page collectible booklet with a special note from Coppola.
