'The Tourist' marks the first time that A-list stars Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie share the screen, and Johnny tells ET that he was pleasantly surprised to find that Angelina is "a very normal girl."

"Angelina's life with Brad and the kids has been kind of overly shockingly documented," says Johnny, "and what I was pleasantly surprised by is she's not really fazed by it. She's a very normal girl and she's very, very smart and very thoughtful, very kind. The two main things: This woman who has become this wonderful mother -- she's a fantastic mother -- and very funny as well; good sense of humor."

In theaters December 10, 'The Tourist' finds Johnny as Frank, an American traveler on an impromptu trip in Europe to mend his broken heart. After a flirtatious encounter with a beautiful stranger named Elise (Angelina), a whirlwind romance develops that soon becomes a deadly game of cat and mouse.

"One of the things that drew me to the material itself was the idea of taking the everyman that's out there, the normal guy, and sort of exploring that," says Johnny about his character. "I always feel like the people who are considered to be the most normal, I always find them, nine times out of ten, the most bizarre, because if you dig a little deeper you'll find certain ticks, or certain routines, or certain tiering on obsessive-compulsive disorder, that sort of thing, and I think Frank is one of those guys."
