ET Flashback '03: Will Ferrell's 'Elf'

Who can forget the sight of Will Ferrell bumbling around the Big Apple as a man-size Elf in the 2003 Christmas comedy gem? Now, we're unwrapping Will's ET interview from the time of the film's release!

"I of course initially thought, 'Okay, I'll be in an elf suit.' … It didn't dawn on me until the first wardrobe fitting that I'd actually be in it for the entire length of the movie," Will said. "But luckily, I've got the bod' to pull it off."

Zooey Deschanel, Will's department store crush in the film, said Will's outlandish getup didn't draw all that many strange looks while they were shooting in the Big Apple: "People really didn't actually react that much, 'cause we were in New York and no one really cared that Will Ferrell was walking around in a yellow and green elf outfit."

So, how did Will prepare to play Buddy, a human raised amongst Santa's elves at the North Pole?

"I just ate a lot of candy every day -- a lot of candy. And I would just stretch: yoga, pilates and Lamaze, believe it or not," he joked. "Even though I'm not pregnant, I did a lot of Lamaze workouts, which is gonna be the new fitness trend, just watch."
