Personal trainer Brian Nguyen is revealing how he got Mark Wahlberg in fighting shape for his role as real-life boxer Micky Ward in 'The Fighter.'
"Mark put on a lot of weight when he was injured, something like 35 pounds," Nguyen revealed. "So, to get that weight off, we had five weeks." In those few weeks, the actor lost 30 pounds.
So how did Nguyen do it? "Total of six hours of high intensity interval training workouts was pretty much the recipe," he revealed to ET. During his training, Wahlberg ate six meals a day, totaling 2,000 calories. For a snack, Nguyen said the actor ate "half an apple, a little gob of peanut butter, [and] he was able to count five pine nuts in the little container."
Check out the video to see Nguyen and Anthony Molinari, who went up against Wahlberg in the final fight of the movie, show the acceleration training methods Nguyen used on Wahlberg. 'The Fighter' is currently nominated for seven Oscars including Best Picture.
