'The Rite' Scares Up $15 Million at the Box Office

Anthony Hopkins' horror film 'The Rite' topped the weekend box office bringing in $15 million, according to studio estimates.

The other movie opening this weekend, 'The Mechanic,' starring Jason Statham, took in $11.5 million.

'No Strings Attached,' which opened last week in first place, took in $13.7 million, just a 31 percent drop from its $20.3 opening.

This week's Oscar nominations announcement also helped the box office figures for some of the top contenders with 'The King's Speech' taking in $11.1 million; "True Grit" growing 4 percent to $7.6 million; 'The Fighter' garnering $4.1 million; and 'Black Swan earning $5.1 million.
