Hugh Jackman is following the director's orders to bulk up and pack on the pounds!
The actor is preparing to reprise his role in the next chapter of the Wolverine saga and this time, he'll be directed by Oscar nominee Darren Aronofsky ('Black Swan,' 'The Wrestler'). Part of that preparation includes an intense diet, Hugh describing it to the Los Angeles Times, saying, "It’s 6,000 calories a day, it’s rough." Currently, the actor is at 210 pounds and counting, that's already 20 pounds more than he weighed in 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine'.
"I don’t know how much I want to give away about it, but Darren said with the last one, 'Hey you looked great, but you're so tall that in those long shots you looked kind of like Clint Eastwood, and that’s not Wolverine.'" Jackman said Aronofsky wanted Wolverine this time around to be "powerful, stocky ... short and thick."
The actor described the look of the character, saying, "Yeah, he’s thick and it’s chunky and it’s powerful. I always think of Mike Tyson when he first came on the scene. Sometimes, he was a full foot shorter than his opponents and bent over [with this] massive build. There’s real power. You said bulldog, and that’s it exactly. Exactly. That’s what I’m going for..."
