Jon Hamm and his girlfriend Jennifer Westfeldt star in the upcoming film 'Friends with Kids,' and they revealed on Monday that the glamour of the Hollywood red carpet isn't necessarily all it's cracked up to be.

"I just find the actual red carpet terrifying," Westfeldt admitted, grabbing her beau's arm.

"I don't think anybody really enjoys any of that stuff," said Hamm. "I think for most people it's a means to an end." Hamm went on to explain, "It's nice when you get the opportunity to especially be recognized for something you're proud of or a chance to let people know about something that you're working on and stuff like that, but it is crazy."

Fans will see how the couple reacts on the red carpet when their new movie premieres next year.

Westfeldt took on the roles of screenwriter, director and actress for the new film which explores the lives of friends whose relationship is altered once children come into the picture.

"It's been amazing to watch Jen handle it all, because it's a tremendous amount of work," said Hamm, who described the movie as "heartbreaking" and "real."

Westfeldt revealed the personal origins of the story saying, "We don't have kids and it's been an interesting thing to just observe how much your friendships change and the relationships change and everything changes when you're out of sync with your peer group, and I think that was sort of the initial kernel for the story."

The small-budget movie pulled a big cast featuring names like Megan Fox, Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph and Adam Scott. The movie also boasts of a legendary filmmaker in executive producer Mike Nichols.

"I've been incredibly fortunate, obviously, to have this group of actors and this level of talent and this level of crew surrounding me because I would never be able to pull this off without those people," Westfeldt gushed.

The movie is being done through Hamm and Westfeldt's production company Point West Pictures.
