The highly anticipated premiere of Alex Pettyfer's new movie 'Beastly' was held at The Grove in Los Angeles on Thursday night with teams of screaming fans, and Pettyfer refused to let anything stop him from being there.

ET's Kevin Frazier had a hunch that something was wrong on Thursday night when Pettyfer showed up late for his own premiere.

"Will I read about this in the grocery store?" Frazier asked, referring to whatever kept the actor from being on time.

"Maybe, I'll give you that one," said Pettyfer, who later suggested that he had been stuck in traffic, but ET has learned that a fire broke out at Pettyfer's home just before the movie premiere.

"There was an electrical fire in the garage while no one was home," "Glee" actress Dianna Agron's rep told us following the red carpet event. "The house was not burned. No one was hurt." Agron was rumored to be dating the 'I Am Number Four' star.

In 'Beastly,' Pettyfer plays a good-looking but conceited high-school student named Kyle who is humbled by a spell that makes him as "unattractive on the outside as he is on the inside." Kyle's only chance of returning to normal is winning the heart of a girl he's always overlooked (Vanessa Hudgens).

Neil Patrick Harris also stars in the movie, playing a visually-impaired man. While filming, Harris aided his performance by wearing lenses over his eyes that blocked his vision, and he dished to Frazier about the pranks pulled on him while he couldn't see.

"Alex would mess with me, 'cause he knew that I couldn't see him," said Harris. "He'd always, as I was talking, move to different sides and try to lick my face and stuff."

The "How I Met Your Mother" star went on to reveal how much he enjoyed working with his co-stars, especially Vanessa Hudgens.

"I'm a huge Vanessa fan," said Neil. "I met her on the movie and I was really impressed with how professional she is. She's got real technical chops. And I liked her work so much and how she works that I hired her to be Mimi in the "Rent" that I did at the Hollywood Bowl."

Harris directed the classic musical last summer.

Hudgens seemed taken aback by the swarming crowd at the shopping center, but she had kind words for those showing their support.

"I have such fantastic fans," said Hudgens. "I just hope they enjoy the movie."

'Beastly' opens March 4.
