Bionic Dolphin Gets New Tail in 'Dolphin Tale'

Dolphin Winter warms hearts in the true story of the animal's harrowing and inspirational life.

'Dolphin Tale' chronicles the innovative design of a prosthetic tail for Winter, who lost her tail at a young age when it was caught in a crab trap. Now living a happy life at Clearwater Marine Aquarium in Florida, the Atlantic Bottlenose dolphin is ready for her big screen debut.

Regaining her ability to swim, Winter splashes around in the film with co-stars Morgan Freeman, Harry Connick Jr., Ashley Judd, Kris Kristofferson, and Nathan Gamble. Ashley "was pretty blown away" by the dolphin's strong will and courage.

'Dolphin Tale' makes a splash in theaters on September 23. The aquatic story was filmed in and will be released in 3D.
