WATCH: Steven Spielberg Debuts 'War Horse' Trailer

Director Steven Spielberghelms the epic film adaptation of 'War Horse,' based on Michael Morpurgo'schildren's book by the same name, and we have the first official trailer!

Set amidst the backdrop of World War I, 'War Horse' tells the story of a young farm boy named Albert (Jeremy Irvine), who befriends and tames a horse (naming it "Joey") only to have their bond shattered as the horse is sold into cavalry.

Albert follows Joey on an extraordinary journey through war-torn fields, trenches and battlefields in a quest to reunite and save his friend.

The cast includes David Thewlis, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jeremy Irvine, Emily Watson, Tom Hiddleston, Peter Mullan and David Kross.

'War Horse' will mark Spielberg's return to directing since 2008's 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.'
