Brett Ratner to Produce the Oscars

Director Brett Ratner and TV producer Don Mischer have been named as producers for the 84th Academy Awards telecast set to air on Sunday, February 26, 2012 on ABC.

Brett, the man behind the 'Rush Hour' franchise and 'X-Men: The Last Stand,' graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts in 1990 but never stopped learning about his craft.

"He has an incredible love of film and its history and is a true student of the business of movies," said Tom Sherak, President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

"Making movies has been my dream since childhood, and I've been fortunate enough to have made several, but the Oscar show is in a league of its own," said Ratner. "It will be fantastic to work with a live television master like Don to meld the glamour of legendary Hollywood with the enormous talents who thrill moviegoers today."

This marks Don's second year in a row producing and directing the Oscars. Last year he garnered an Emmy nomination for the telecast.
