First Look: Anne Hathaway as Catwoman!

Given the sheer volume of Catwoman incarnations that litter pop culture, it was nearly impossible to figure out which version of the cat burglar Anne Hathaway would be playing in the final part of director Christopher Nolan's epic 'Dark Knight' trilogy.

Thankfully, the just-released first look at Hathaway as Selena Kyle/Catwoman in 2012's 'The Dark Knight Rises' jives with the franchise's much more grounded aesthetic. There's no cat ears a la Michelle Pfeiffer's 1992 version and no S&M vibe, a la Halle Berry's 2004 flop. This Catwoman takes her name less from a feline counterpart and more from the moniker associated with most thieves.

What's even more interesting is that Hathaway is seen riding the Batpod, which would indicate Hathaway's version of the iconic character also ends up working with Christian Bale's Batman in 'Rises.'

'The Dark Knight Rises' arrives in theaters on July 20, 2012 and co-stars Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Tom Hardy, Morgan Freeman and Sir Michael Caine!
