Colin Chews the Scenery as 'Fright Night' Vamp

He's no Edward Cullen, that's for sure… Colin Farrell plays a deadly vampire next door in Fright Night, a remake of the '80s horror hit, and he tells ET that playing a bloodsucker "was just F-U-N, unadulterated, child-like fun."

"I loved the original, I really did, when I saw it, 10, 11, 12 years of age," says Colin of the 1985 summer sleeper. "I loved it and I saw it many times after that, and so I was dubious as well to how unwise it may be [to do a remake] -- and I read it and I loved it."

In theaters Friday in 3D, Fright Night follows Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin), an everyday high school teen living with his single mom (Toni Collette) just outside the Las Vegas Strip, who learns that his new next door neighbor, Jerry Dandridge (Farrell), just may be a vampire. His former best friend, "Evil Ed" (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), is convinced of it. But when Ed disappears, Charlie must face the truth and protect his mom and girlfriend (Imogen Poots). With nowhere else to turn, he seeks out help from eccentric Sin City illusionist Peter Vincent (David Tennant).

Asked who would win in a fight between Jerry the vampire and Robert Pattinson's Edward Cullen from The Twilight Saga, Colin diplomatically replies, "It depends. If it was for a pint of blood, I'd say Jerry, and if it was for the love of a woman, I'd say Edward would probably have him."
