'The Help' Takes No. 1 Again

August 28, 2011The intense weather caused by Hurricane Irene deterred many East Coast moviegoers from going to theaters over the weekend, but the rest of the nation took advantage of the free A/C that a dark screening room provides.
The Help ranked at No. 1 again, pulling in $14.3 million. This was enough to beat out Colombiana and Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, which brought in $10.3 million and $8.6 million, respectively.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes also made $8.6 million over the weekend, which lifted its cumulative box office earnings to an impressive $148.4 million in its fourth week out.
