Tower Heist marks Eddie Murphy's long-awaited return to the iconic buddy films that made him a big star and changed the genre forever. With recent news that Murphy will host the 2012 Oscars, the funnyman is taking it all in stride with his characteristic dash of humor.
Teaming up with Oscar-winning producer Brian Grazer for the caper comedy is Brett Ratner, who directs the film and just so happens to be producing the Academy Awards show with Eddie, says that it was such a dream come true to work with Murphy that he "literally had to pinch [him]self" every day on set to believe it.
Ratner credits the success of some his most popular projects like Rush Hour and Money Talks to the legendary comedian, pointing out that they "wouldn't even exist… if it wasn't for Eddie."
As the cast sang their praises of Murphy and his forthcoming success at the Academy Awards, Eddie wasn't so eager to guarantee he would hit this one out of the park, let alone entertain. "I think it's so funny that people think I'm the perfect for this," he admits when the subject comes up. "I'm going to be horrendous…I'm going to be the worst host ever."
While the thought seems completely unfathomable, Eddie paints a picture for the fateful night. "I'm going to wear a powered sky blue tuxedo and at the end of the evening I'm going to urinate on myself in front of a billion people," Murphy jokes.
