On the set of her show, Melissa told us that she found out about her nomination this morning when her baby daughter woke her up.

"I just sat there kind of watching it and then my name came up and [my husband] goes, 'Oh my God, I think you were just nominated for an Academy Award,'" said Melissa.

Melissa's Bridesmaids co-star and friend Kristen Wiig was also nominated for co-writing the hilarious screenplay with Annie Mumolo.

"That was one that made me scream this morning," Melissa admitted. "They wrote it over five years. I think a million times it could've gone away and they fought for it."

Triumphs like these made 2011 a breakout year for many female entertainers, which Melissa found inspiring.
