Denzel: Gisele 'Threw the Receivers Under the Bus'

Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds premiered their new action-thriller Safe House in Manhattan Tuesday night, and Denzel took the opportunity to weigh in on supermodel Gisele's controversial comments made in defense of her Patriots quarterback hubby Tom Brady on Super Bowl Sunday.

"Well, she's intense," mused Denzel. "She kind of threw the receivers under the bus. … But you know, I mean, God bless her, at least she's enthusiastic about it, I'll put it that way. She threw them under the bus, though."

Of course, Denzel's referring to the backstage moment captured by The Insider cameras just after the big game when Gisele responded to a heckler shouting to her that Eli Manning "owned" her husband, and she shot back, "My husband can not f****ing throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time."

Safe House, in theaters Friday, finds Denzel as Tobin Frost, a renegade CIA agent who returns to the grid after a decade on the run. When the safe house in South Africa he's hiding out in is attacked, rookie operative Matt Weston (Ryan) escapes with the dangerous spy. With deadly mercenaries attempting to take them out, the unlikely allies must stay alive long enough to uncover who wants them dead.

Directed by Daniel Espinosa, Safe House also stars Brendan Gleeson, Sam Shepard, Vera Farmiga, Robert Patrick and Ruben Blades.
