Hi-Yo, Silver! 'Lone Ranger' Cameras Roll

The highly anticipated update of The Lone Ranger starring Johnny Depp as Tonto and Armie Hammer in the title role is officially underway.

The long-delayed project reunites Depp with his Oscar-winning Rango and Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski, and super-producer Jerry Bruckheimer is overseeing the production, shooting on location in New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Colorado. Of course, Hammer is hot off of his star-making performances in The Social Network and J. Edgar.

The new Lone Ranger is a revisionist take on the classic western hero's tale, this time told from the point of view of Tonto, the loyal Native American companion to the masked rider with a belt full of silver bullets.

The new movie promises to take the audience "on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption."
