We usually see Tom Cruise in characters that are the rock star of films like Mission Impossible but in a new extended trailer for Rock of Ages, Cruise literally rocks as he plays the role of "Stacee Jaxx," the lead singer of a band.

The film—which also stars Alec Baldwin, Julianne Hough, Russell Brand, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Mary J. Blige—is based upon a Broadway musical of the same name in which two co-workers fall in love during the '80s.

Rock of Ages is set for a June 15 release this summer.
