The first image of Sir Anthony Hopkins as the legendary Master of Suspense himself, Alfred Hitchcock, has been released. The cinematic makeup sleight-of-hand is all for the newly titled Hitchcock from Fox Searchlight Pictures.
Based on the book Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho by Stephen Rebello, the film is a love story about Hitch and his wife/partner Alma Reville, played by Helen Mirren, during the making of the legendary director's seminal film Psycho. The story also tracks the obstacles that the English filmmaker had to overcome to make a "lowly" horror movie that no Hollywood studio wanted to touch. Of course, Psycho went on to become one of Hitchcock's biggest hits and one of the most influential movies of all time.
Hitchcock also stars Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh, James D'Arcy as Anthony Perkins, Jessica Biel as Vera Miles, Michael Stuhlbarg as Lew Wasserman, Toni Collette as Hitchcock's secretary Peggy, Michael Wincott as Ed Gein, Kurtwood Smith as Geoffrey Shurlock, Richard Portnow as Barney Balaban and Danny Huston as Whitfield Cook.
