Reubens 'Sworn to Secrecy' on New Pee-wee Movie

After a long hiatus, Pee-wee Herman made a triumphant return to the spotlight with an outrageous stage show version of his classic TV show Pee-wee's Playhouse, conquering Broadway in the process. Now, Pee-wee is plotting a return to the big screen, produced by Judd Apatow, and his alter ego, Paul Reubens, gives ET the latest on the project.

"It's an adventure story, a road picture, not unlike Big Adventure," says Paul. "I've been writing it for a long time with a gentleman named Paul Rust, who's done a lot of work with Judd, and we have a meeting next week on the movie, Judd and me."

He adds, "I expect it's going to be shooting pretty soon, and I love it. I think it's really fun, so I'm excited. I wish I could tell you a whole bunch more about it, but I'm sworn to secrecy."

Paul took the time to talk about Pee-wee while promoting his slick, action-packed new Disney XD animated series TRON: Uprising. Taking place before the events of the big-screen TRON: Legacy, the visually striking series features the voice of Elijah Wood as Beck, a young program who becomes the unlikely leader of a revolution.

Paul plays the character of Pavel, an untrustworthy commander under the authority of the hungry dictator General Tesler (Lance Henriksen) who he describes as "frustrated, angry, insecure, you name it," and "thinks he could do a way better job running the army than his boss."

"I own some of the original TRON toys," says Paul, who was a fan of the original 1982 movie. "I had one of the Light Cycles – a toy, not the real one."

Disney Channel will present TRON: Uprising, Beck's Beginning, a 30-minute prelude to the series on Friday May 18, followed by the series launch on Thursday, June 7 at 9 p.m. on Disney XD.
